Funding for Important AEO Programs—Last week, the Senate Appropriations Committee passed the Financial Services and General Government (FSGG) Appropriations bill to fund Fiscal Year 2019. The next step is for the bill to be voted on by the full Senate. Below is a chart comparing the House Appropriations Committee-passed bill with the Senate bill and AEO’s requests.

Senate Narrowly Rejects Recession Bill— The Senate rejected President’s Trump plan to claw back $15 billion in spending in a 48-50 vote, with GOP Senator’s Burr (NC) and Collins (Maine) voting against the bill. The bill included $141 million in recessions from the Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund’s Capital Magnet Fund (CMF).
